WWII C.I.C. agent receives medial for Tojo’s Capture

Here’s a Washington Post Article about another C.I.C agent (John J. Wilpers) that was on the scene when Tojo was captured and received a medal for it. In James Thomson’s war time archive he refers to John J. Wilpers as, “a good egg.” See image to the right.

My name Kay Alsbrook Joyner, I have an article about that day that was published in the Covington Leader in Tipton County Tennessee when my Dad returned from the war in the article he says that he an a lieutenant who broke down the door. My dad was a Sgt. with the 1st infantry division. He never talked about the war but his family had always said he was in the bad part of the fighting. After his dealth one of his sisters told me to go to the leader and research the article, I did but and I had someone make a shadowbox for his flag and his medals and the article. I would love to contact Mr. Wilpers and see if he remembers my Dad. Sgt, William (Buddy) Alsbrook. If you have contact with him would you please give him my numbers or address.

Part of my investigation into James’ exploits is to inform others that might have information to share about James’ story.

My email to Emily Langer from The Washington Post

I saw your article on the vet who captured Tojo. I thought you might find this blog interesting about another vet that was part of the effort.

Her Response:

Mr. Davey,

Thanks so much for forwarding this. I look forward to reading it. Thank you again for taking the time to be in touch.
Best wishes,
